From 1 April 2024, Lesotho Tourism has instituted a tourism levy to enter Lesotho at the Sani Top border post - the amount will go to developing tourism in Lesotho. The current amount is R50 per adult, children are free.
Extend our popular Lesotho Day Trip and overnight in the “Kingdom in the Sky”
This tour departs from Durban from where you head up into the mountains towards the scenic town of Underberg. We stop for a coffee break and to stretch our legs before we take you up Sani Pass and further on into a village in the Mountain Kingdom, called Mokhotlong, allowing you to explore more of Lesotho’s Highlands!
After lunch you get to choose between a tour of a cultural village or explore the rugged terrain the best way possible – on horseback!
In the late afternoon we make our back towards Sani Top, where we spend the night atop the Roof of Africa.
The next morning you will meet your guide after a hearty breakfast to choose your activity for the morning – hiking, horse riding or immerse yourself in more of the areas culture and history and your personal guide shows you around.
We make our way back down the Sani Pass for lunch which is enjoyed in the small village of Underberg before we head back to Durban.

My partner and I greatly enjoyed our overnight tour in Lesotho this month! We loved the Sani Pass, horseback riding, and the spectacular scenery at every turn. The absolute highlight of this tour though was our guide, Peter. He was so knowledgeable, and happy to answer our many questions! Having him guide us through Lesotho for a couple of days made this tour worth it. - Sarah
